About the Book

On All the Seven Seas: Travel Aboard Passenger Ships is a new hardcover book by maritime historian William H. Miller, published by Fonthill Media.

The 176-page volume includes 155 historic photographs and explores passenger travel across the world’s oceans through Miller’s experiences aboard a wide variety of ships.

The book includes voyages on vessels ranging from famous ocean liners such as RMS Queen Elizabeth 2 to lesser-known ships including the Polish liner Stefan Batory. Miller also recounts unusual journeys, including travel aboard a 12-passenger container ship to the Far East and a voyage on a Norwegian coastal mail steamer in winter.

Published in large-format hardcover (approximately 11 × 8.5 inches), the book combines maritime history with personal travel experiences across the world’s seas.

The book is scheduled for release on May 30, 2026, and is available for pre-order now.

About the Author

William H. Miller is an internationally recognized maritime historian and author specializing in ocean liners and passenger ships. For more than four decades, he has researched and documented the ships that carried passengers across the world’s oceans.

Miller is the author of numerous books on maritime history and the great liners of the twentieth century. His work combines historical research with personal travel experiences aboard passenger ships around the world.

In addition to his writing, Miller is a frequent shipboard lecturer, sharing the history of ocean travel with passengers on cruises around the globe. His talks and publications have helped introduce generations of travelers to the stories behind the ships that shaped modern cruising.

Through his books, lectures, and photography, Miller has built one of the most respected bodies of work devoted to the history of passenger ships and ocean travel.
