Holland America’s 2028 Alaska Season to Include New Scenic Cruising & Extended Voyages

Bookings are now open for Holland America‘s 2028 Alaska season! The schedule includes voyages ranging from seven to 18 days aboard six ships, sailing from Seattle, Vancouver, Whittier, and even a new cruise from San Diego.

Oosterdam, Noordam, Eurodam, Koningsdam, Westerdam, and Zaandam will operate the line’s 2028 Alaska season, sailing roundtrip from Seattle and Vancouver and between Vancouver and Whittier. Several new experiences will be offered in 2028, including a rare 11-night California to Alaska: Shores, Fjords & Glaciers voyage.

“What has always set Holland America Line apart in Alaska is our ability to combine the iconic experiences guests dream about with opportunities to see the destination in ways they haven’t before,” said Paul Grigsby, vice president of revenue planning and deployment for Holland America Line. “Our 2028 season reflects that approach, pairing the Alaska highlights guests expect with a collection of distinctive experiences, from rare itineraries and lesser-traveled waterways to new ways of enjoying the journey on board. It’s a season designed to give guests an even deeper connection to Alaska.”

Holland America Evolution Renovations

As part of the 2028 Alaska season, passengers will have the opportunity to sail aboard Oosterdam following her transformation as the first ship to debut renovations through the Holland America Evolution program. Oosterdam will also serve as the primary ship for Alaska Cruisetours, allowing travelers to pair a cruise with overland exploration into Denali and the Yukon.

Among the additions debuting on Oosterdam are purpose-built Solo Verandah staterooms, new Bridgeview Suites with forward-facing views, and the passenger-favorite Grand Dutch Café. The transformation also includes refreshed staterooms, updated guest spaces, and enhancements inspired by the line’s Pinnacle class ships.

New Scenic Cruising Through Nootka Sound

Select Great Alaska Explorer and Great Bear Rainforest voyages will include scenic cruising through Nootka Sound for the first time in Holland America’s history. Known as the birthplace of British Columbia, the remote waterway on Vancouver Island’s west coast is rarely featured on ocean cruise itineraries.

2028 Alaska Itinerary Highlights

The 11-night California to Alaska voyage is a major highlight of the season, connecting San Diego to the fjords and glaciers of the 49th state. Departing April 29, the sailing visits Glacier Bay National Park, Juneau, Ketchikan, Wrangell, Klawock, and Prince Rupert.

Another highlight is the 14-night Great Alaska Explorer itinerary with two departure dates, perfect for those who want extended exploration of Alaska. Destinations include Juneau, Ketchikan, Prince Rupert, Anchorage, Kodiak, and Valdez, plus Hubbard Glacier, Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier, and new scenic cruising through Nootka Sound.

There will also be two Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer itineraries, a 16-night option and an 18-night option. Among a variety of scenic cruising and port calls, both itineraries visit the Great Bear Rainforest, which is known for its rare white “spirit bears” and vast untouched wilderness.
