PortMiami Celebrates Major Cruise Passenger Milestone

PortMiami is celebrating a major cruise passenger milestone! The southern Florida port — which just so happens to be one of the busiest cruise ports in the entire world — welcomed its 10 millionth cruise passenger on September 14, 2026.

With two weeks left in the 2026 Fiscal Year, which runs from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026, PortMiami has already surpassed its previous fiscal year record of 8,564,225 cruise passengers. This marks a milestone not only with the welcoming of its 10 millionth cruise passenger, but also as its highest annual passenger volume ever. The achievement reflects strong global demand for sailings out of Miami, ongoing investments in state-of-the-art cruise terminals, and the continued expansion of what cruise lines are offering to travelers.

“Breaking the 10 million passenger threshold is a testament to PortMiami’s unwavering dedication to service, sustainability and economic vitality,” said Miami Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “This extraordinary milestone underscores our port’s role as a global gateway and a driver of job creation, tourism and local business growth.”

Port Director and CEO Jonathan Daniels added, “I’m immensely proud of our team and cruise and port partners, whose collaborative efforts made this achievement possible. Reaching 10 million passengers reflects our focus on innovation, efficiency and superior passenger experience, as we continue to modernize PortMiami’s infrastructure and expand our capacity for future growth.”

The port’s modern infrastructure includes recently completed and renovated terminals that are capable of accommodating the largest cruise ships in the world. This infrastructure played a key role in achieving this milestone, as the facilities are designed to improve passenger flow, streamline embarkation and debarkation processes, and enhance the overall guest experience.

Cruise activity at the port continues to generate substantial economic value for Miami Dade County. Passenger traffic supports hundreds of thousands of local jobs in areas ranging from tourism and hospitality to retail, transportation, and — of course — maritime sectors. Each cruise call contributes to regional economic activity through hotel stays, dining, entertainment, and local transportation. This injects not millions, but billions of dollars annually into the county’s economy.
