AmaWaterways Offers First Look at AmaRudi, Europe’s Largest River Cruise Ship

AmaWaterways has revealed the first details and renderings of its second double-width river ship. The vessel, called AmaRudi, is scheduled to debut on the Danube River in spring 2027.

Building on the design of AmaMagna, which launched in 2019, AmaRudi will — along with its sister ship — be the largest river cruise ship in Europe. It’s the first vessel in the company’s history named after a man, honoring co-founder Rudi Schreiner, whose vision helped shape the modern river cruise industry. Born and raised near Austria’s Danube River, Schreiner spent his childhood exploring the river that will become AmaRudi‘s home.

The design for the new river ship blends modern elegance, comfort, and subtle historical references inspired by the cities and cultures found along the Danube River. While building on the design of AmaMagna, it will debut several new features as well.

Dining

AmaRudi will feature several restaurants ranging from the Journey’s Restaurant and The Chef’s Table to al fresco dining experiences and the intimate Rudi’s Wine Bar. On an AmaWaterways cruise, beer, soda, and a curated select of wine is available complimentary, as well as new Italian lunch menus served in The Chef’s Table. A built-in Deck Club barbecue on the Sun Deck will further expand the ship’s dining options.

Wellness and Recreation

Passengers will have access to an expansive wellness area with massage treatment rooms, hair and nail services, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and dedicated relaxation spaces. Fitness classes and other wellness programming will be available both onboard and ashore. The Sun Deck will include a full-size pickleball court, providing more opportunities to stay active while enjoying the scenery along the river.

Entertainment

AmaRudi will introduce a brand-new entertainment concept created exclusively for this ship. Designed as a vibrant social hub, the versatile space will include a cinema, karaoke, billiards, and a jukebox — along with soundproofing that ensures guests in other parts of the vessel aren’t bothered by the noise.

More on AmaRudi

AmaRudi will be able to accommodate 196 guests in 98 staterooms and suites. It’s set to begin sailing on the Danube in spring 2027, operating some of AmaWaterways’ most popular Danube itineraries including Magna on the Danube and Gems of Southeast Europe.

More details on accommodations, onboard experiences, and booking will be revealed in the coming months.
