Holland America’s 2028 Europe Season to Include Most Port Calls in Nearly a Decade
Holland America has opened bookings for its 2028 Europe season, which will include expanded sailings across northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands, and beyond.
The season will include Holland America’s highest number of port calls in Europe in nearly a decade, with record numbers of visits to Norway, Spain, Ireland, and the Netherlands. Departures will take place from January through early December 2028, as the line recently expanded its European deployment year-round. Itineraries will range from seven to 48 days aboard five ships: Nieuw Statendam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Volendam, Rotterdam, and Zuiderdam. Select ports will include overnight stays, extended calls, and late-night departures.

Mediterranean
Seven to 11-day cruises will be offered in the Mediterranean, sailing from six homeports. Cruises will visit destinations across Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, and Turkey. Nieuw Amsterdam will return to Europe for the first time in over 10 years, and Zuiderdam will be returning following major renovations.
Many itineraries are designed for guests to take back-to-back, allowing travelers to see more of the Mediterranean with few or no repeat ports. Those looking for an extra-extended vacation can take the 48-day Legendary Mediterranean Voyage, sailing roundtrip from North America and visiting destinations across the region.
The season includes Holland America’s highest number of visits to Spain since 2017 and a record six calls to Portofino.
Northern Europe
Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, and Zuiderdam will sail in northern Europe on seven to 28-day voyages to Iceland, Norway, Greenland, the British Isles, and the Baltic. Itineraries pair major cultural capitals with smaller coastal destinations.
The season features Holland America’s highest number of visits to Norway since 2014, along with record numbers of calls in Ireland and the Netherlands. Highlights include scenic cruising through Norway’s fjords, explorations of Iceland and Greenland, and visits to historic cities and coastal communities across the British Isles and Baltic.

Canary Islands and Transatlantic Cruises
The 2028 season also includes sailings to the Canary Islands, with visits to destinations including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote, paired with ports in Portugal, Spain, and Morocco.
Those looking for a longer journey with more sea days can choose from several transatlantic sailings and Legendary Voyages connecting Europe and North America.
