Summer 2025 Europe Cruises Feature More than 95 Ships From Over 20 Cruise Lines
As the summer 2025 Europe cruise season gets underway, all signs point to another banner year for Americans heading across the Atlantic. According to the European Travel Commission, 33% of U.S. travelers plan to visit Europe between May and August 2025. That figure marks a dip from 40% last summer, with rising costs and political concerns, including unease over how the U.S. is perceived abroad, weighing on travelers’ minds.

Still, summer 2025 Europe cruises are shaping up to be a landmark season. More than 20 cruise lines will deploy over 95 ocean and expedition ships across the region — one of the largest deployments that Europe has ever seen.
Among the most notable players, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) leads the pack with nine ships in the region, including the recently renovated Norwegian Breakaway. NCL is focusing on flexibility and family-friendly experiences with itineraries in Italy, Greece, France, and the British Isles. Norwegian Breakaway also debuts new onboard features such as the Silver Screen Bistro and Horizon Park — family-friendly attractions built for longer, immersive itineraries.
Luxury and premium brands are also expanding. Silversea Cruises, Oceania Cruises, and Explora Journeys are each unveiling new vessels — Silver Ray, Allura, and Explora II, respectively — all of which will sail inaugural Mediterranean and Northern European voyages this summer. Cunard’s Queen Anne, though launched in 2024, will cruise her first full summer season in Europe this year.

Meanwhile, the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection makes a splash with three yachts, including two newcomers: Ilma and Luminara. Tailored for travelers seeking ultra-luxury, the Ritz-Carlton fleet offers curated itineraries that feel more like private yachting than traditional cruising.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Carnival Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line each field a single ship — Carnival Miracle and Disney Fantasy — yet both bring massive appeal for multi-generational families and first-time cruisers.
The Eastern Mediterranean continues to be a top choice for summer cruises in Europe, with Greek Isles itineraries from Celestyal Cruises, Virgin Voyages, and Windstar Cruises offering immersive cultural experiences and access to smaller, less-touristed ports.

Whether aboard a 5,000-passenger megaship or a 100-cabin boutique yacht, Americans in 2025 are embracing Europe by sea. With new vessels, expanded routes, and a record number of ships in play, the summer cruise season offers more variety and value than ever before.
