Holland America’s Oosterdam to Debut Reimagined Ocean Bar in 2027
Holland America has revealed that it will be reimagining the Ocean Bar aboard the first ship to be renovated through its Evolution program: Oosterdam. Inspired by the glamour of the golden age of ocean travel, the redesigned venue will feature a new stage, refreshed lounge spaces, and a reimagined layout.

The transformation will introduce a new stage designed to showcase a wider range of programming, from regional soloists and pianists to strings performances and late-night cabaret. The redesigned bar will be relocated to create a stronger connection to the performances and serve as a focal point for the venue, with inviting lounge spaces that encourage guests to both enjoy the music and enjoy spending time together.
“With the new Ocean Bar, we wanted to draw on the qualities that have made travel by sea so enduring, from its sense of elegance and occasion to the connections created along the way,” said Michael Stendebach, senior vice president of food, beverage and rooms division for Holland America Line. “Inspired by our maritime heritage, including design details drawn from Rotterdam V, this reimagined venue creates a setting where guests can gather for a cocktail, enjoy live music and immerse themselves in the refined elegance that has always been part of the Holland America experience.”
Blending Art Deco elegance with subtle nautical influences, custom furnishings in the space will include details inspired by vintage travel trunks and luggage, including leather accents that nod to the romance of classic cruising. Existing lounge furnishings will be reupholstered with fabrics made from recycled materials, reflecting a balance of craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability.

Holland America’s Evolution renovation program constitutes the largest fleet update in the company’s 153-year history. It will involve the revitalization of all six Vista and Signature-class ships, starting with Oosterdam and Zuiderdam. The updates will blend new offerings with passenger-favorites inspired by Holland America’s newer Pinnacle-class ships.
The company will invest over $500 million across the six ships, including enhancements to onboard amenities and additional staterooms and suites. Bookings are open for post-renovation voyages aboard both Oosterdam and Zuiderdam. Oosterdam‘s renovations are scheduled to be completed in fall 2027.
