Seattle’s skyline sets the stage for this striking scene as Norwegian Joy‘s last Alaska cruise of the season gets underway. Our friend and local cruise enthusiast Mike Cheek captured the 3,776-passenger ship beneath a cloudless blue sky as a Washington State ferry passes in front of her.

Mr. Cheek snapped the photo while on a harbor tour with Salish Sea Tours, joined by British friends and cruise vloggers Paul and Carole. “It was a lovely sunny day cruising the Salish Sea with friends from the UK,” he said.

Thank you Mr. Cheek.

Launched in 2017 by Norwegian Cruise Line, Norwegian Joy is a Breakaway Plus-class vessel measuring 1,094 feet long. She features a two-level electric go-kart racetrack, a waterfront promenade, and a wide range of modern entertainment spaces.

On the day this photo was taken, Norwegian Joy was embarking on a 10-night round-trip voyage calling at Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, Icy Strait Point, Sitka, Ketchikan, and Victoria, B.C.

Following this cruise, the ship repositioned from Seattle to Miami on a 21-night voyage through the Panama Canal.
