Viking Details New Land Experiences on Europe River Cruises

Viking has announced a range of new experiences on its European river cruises, which are now available for booking. They include new shore excursions, small group tours, and pre- or post-cruise land extensions across Europe.

New Shore Excursions

Starting this year, Viking has added an extensive number of new shore excursion options for its Rhine, Danube, Seine, and Elbe river itineraries. Highlights include:

  • Zeppelin flights over the Ruhr Valley and Cologne (both available on select Rhine River itineraries)
  • Dinner at Nikolaihof Winery in Austria’s Wachau Valley (available on select Danube River itineraries)
  • Dürnstein on Foot & Local Dinner (available on select Danube River itineraries)
  • Sights & Flavors of Belgrade in Serbia (available on select Danube River itineraries)
  • Red Stone Castle & Wine Tasting in Slovakian wine country (available on select Danube River itineraries)
  • Sights and Tastes of Rouen (available on the Christmastime in Paris & Normandy itinerary)
  • Flavors of Berlin in Germany’s capital city (available on the Christmas Along the Elbe itinerary)

New Small Group Experiences

Also starting this year, Viking has introduced new small group experiences across select European river cruises. These include:

  • The Palace of Versailles, where visitors will enjoy an intimate guided tour of the famed palace and gardens
  • Schönbrunn Palace, where travelers will uncover the history of the Habsburg dynasty while admiring the palace’s elegant rooms and landscaped grounds
  • Český Krumlov on Foot, where passengers can take part in a guided stroll through the Czech Republic’s fairytale-esque town
  • Medieval Village of Colmar, where visitors can stroll along cobblestone streets through the charming Alsatian village, admiring half-timbered homes and picture-perfect canals along the way
  • Picturesque Bratislava, where travelers can explore the highlights of Slovakia’s capital

New Pre- and Post-Cruise Land Extensions

Viking also announced new fully-guided land extensions, which allow passengers to extend their vacation by adding a land tour to their cruise experience. Some extensions will begin operations in 2026, while others won’t be available until 2027. Highlights include:

  • St. Moritz, Lombardy & Alpine Train: Board the Bernina Express for a rail journey along a route through the Alps and Northern Italy. Explore the old town of Chur and admire the views from atop an alpine mountain in St. Moritz. The experience also includes a visit to Milan.
  • Croatia & Slovenia: In Ljubljana, explore the city and visit scenic Lake Bled and Radovljica. Walk the streets of Zagreb’s medieval old town and visit the Festetics Palace in Keszthely.
  • Best of Belgium: Experience the rich history, architecture, and culture of Belgium during visits to three of its cities: Brussels, Bruges, and Antwerp.
  • Best of Holland: Discover Holland’s rich heritage, beauty, and sights. Explore Delft’s Royal Dutch Delftware Manufactory and Gouda’s historic sites, and take part in a stroopwafel workshop. See The Hague’s landmarks and enjoy masterpieces at the Mauritshuis Museum and Rijksmuseum.
  • Turin & Barolo: Discover Italy’s first capital, Turin, known for its Baroque architecture, bustling piazzas, and Piedmont wines. Visib Alba, the gateway to the Langhe Wine Region, and explore the historic seat of the Dukes of Savoy, Chambéry.
  • Seville & Cordoba: Uncover the spirit of southern Spain, where Moorish and Roman legacies create a rich culture. Discover Seville’s architecture at its cathedral, and visit the royal Alcázar palace and Córdoba’s Mosque-Cathedral.

Viking’s Summer Sale

Through June 30, 2026, Viking’s Summer Sale offers North American travelers reduced fares and up to free international airfare on select river, ocean, and expeditions itineraries. The line is also offering reduced $25 deposits on all itineraries.
