Virgin Voyages’ New Fares Divide Cabins Into Three Tiers
Virgin Voyages will introduce a new fare structure on October 7, 2025, reshaping how passengers book their cruises. Called VoyageFair Choices, every non-suite cabin will have three tiers of prices: Base, Essential and Premium fares.
The company says the change reflects direct feedback from passengers and travel advisors. Executives compared the approach to airline and hotel pricing models, with the goal of bringing greater clarity and choice to cruising.

- At the Base level, passengers choose the lowest-priced option. This fare is non-refundable, includes Basic Wi-Fi for one device, and permits dining reservations 15 days before sailing. No name, date or cabin changes are allowed.
- The Essential fare is closest to Virgin’s current approach. It comes with Classic Wi-Fi for one device, a 45-day dining reservation window and flexibility to adjust dates with a Future Voyage Credit. Name changes are permitted for the second through fourth passengers in a cabin.
- Premium delivers the most perks. Benefits include Premium Wi-Fi for two devices with streaming capability, a drinks credit, a 60-day dining reservation window and access to a priority support line. Virgin says this option is designed for travelers seeking convenience and greater flexibility.

RockStars Keep Their Rhythm
For RockStar and Mega RockStar Quarters, VoyageFair Choices only modifies dining reservations, which will now open 120 days before sailing. Other inclusions, from Richard’s Rooftop access to dedicated RockStar Agent service, remain unchanged.
Virgin is also adjusting how service gratuities are shown. “Contributions,” previously bundled into fares, will now appear as a separate line item at booking. Passengers may pre-pay at a discounted $20 per night or pay onboard at $22. The company stresses there are no hidden charges and no tipping is expected.
What will not change, Virgin emphasizes, is its “Always Included Luxury.” Every fare still covers more than $1,000 in value, with specialty dining, group fitness, Wi-Fi, soda, water and entertainment part of the package.
Virgin’s announcement comes as other cruise lines also rethink pricing. Silversea recently launched The Luxury of Choice, a three-tier fare model that ties flexibility and inclusions like airfare and excursions to the fare level. Oceania has adjusted its Simply MORE program by removing automatic airfare, making flights an optional add-on. Both moves reflect a broader trend toward more flexible and transparent cruise pricing.
Virgin Voyages currently operates four “Lady Ships”: Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady and Brilliant Lady. The fleet sails from Miami, Barcelona, Athens and San Juan.
