Heard Along the Promenade Deck
Broadcasting!
Two dear friends and cruise experts, Tony Davis & Chris Frame, have joined forces and launched their very own YouTube podcast, The Expert Cruise Show. Topics will be varied & insightful: Tony is in Los Angeles, Chris down in Australia. And both have lots to say.
End of the Line!
On May 24th, a court in the Netherlands ordered the sale of the long idle Astoria (a ship with many former names, but which began as the Swedish-flag Stockholm in 1948). Neglected of late and now 77 years old, it would seem only scrappers will be interested. It has been laid-up in Rotterdam harbor for five years, since 2020.

Shipboard Friends!
Dr. Jay Wolff & his wife Carol… Together, we’ve sailed together on a few dozen cruises (mostly on Crystal Cruises). But yesterday was noteworthy — it was their 70th wedding anniversary – yes, May 1955. Soon turning 92, Jay himself is quite extraordinary. As my fellow speaker, he can still do over 350 talks on insightful history & ports of call – and each without notes! His long success (after having been a dental surgeon and with world history as his hobby) is in part due to admiration, even a bit of envy from his largely mature audiences on these luxury cruise ships.

PS: Dr. Jay Wolff was one of my great heroes. He was a wonderful speaker & fellow passenger. His knowledge was endless; over the years, he entertained & enriched thousands & thousands of cruise passengers. But sadly, Jay passed away, age 92, just weeks after our return to New York.
