Aqua Makes Maiden Call in Miami

Norwegian Aqua made her maiden call at Miami this week, marking the start of her inaugural Caribbean season. The ship is Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest vessel and the first in the Prima Plus class. She will sail round-trip itineraries from Miami through April 2026.

After debuting earlier this year with a summer of Bermuda cruises from New York, Norwegian Aqua now begins her first season sailing from South Florida. The 3,571-passenger ship is about 10 percent larger than her sister ships Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva. Built by Fincantieri in Italy, she introduces new design features and experiences for the brand.

From PortMiami, Norwegian Aqua will cruise to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas. Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian’s private island, is undergoing a major transformation that includes a n pier, a 28,000-square-foot heated pool, and a children’s splash zone. A six-acre waterpark, Great Tides, is set to open in 2026.

Onboard, passengers find a balance of energy and relaxation. The Aqua Slidecoaster, billed by NCL as the longest and fastest slides at sea, blends rollercoaster thrills with water-powered motion. The Glow Court, a digital sports complex, transforms into a nightlife venue after dark. Families can enjoy the Aqua Game Zone with virtual reality and arcade favorites, while adults unwind at the Vibe Beach Club, Mandara Spa, or the expanded pool deck.

The ship features 17 restaurants and 18 bars and lounges, offering a mix of indoor and open-air spaces with ocean views. Entertainment includes Revolution: A Celebration of Prince and Elements: The World Expanded, two large-scale productions combining music, acrobatics, and visual effects.

Norwegian Aqua is the 20th ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. Norwegian Luna is set to debut in 2026 to become the 21st.
