Royal Caribbean Reveals 6 Artists for Legend of the Seas Pieces

There’s a new group of artists in town.. ahem, at sea! Royal Caribbean has revealed the lineup of emerging artists whose work will be featured aboard its new mega ship, Legend of the Seas.

The artists were chosen through the cruise line’s Artist Discovery Program, which connects local talent and their artwork with travelers around the world who sail with Royal Caribbean. The latest group of artists for Legend of the Seas marks the continued expansion of the program, which includes artists from the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America.

The program has also extended beyond the ships, highlighting local talent at Royal Caribbean’s new beach club in the Bahamas, Royal Beach Club Paradise Island. The destination features 25 pieces of artwork created by 11 local Bahamian artists.

“Since its introduction on Icon of the Seas, the Artist Discovery Program has continued to evolve how we connect guests with the places we visit by championing up-and-coming artists and giving them a global stage to showcase their work,” said Jay Schneider, Chief Product Innovation Officer at Royal Caribbean. “With Legend of the Seas we’ve expanded our call for talent beyond the Caribbean to include Mexico and Central America, bringing together an even broader range of voices and perspectives.”

Royal Caribbean received 250 artist applications for Legend of the Seas, who each sent in a personal statement, resume, and unpublished conceptual artwork. Six artists were chosen and received grants to create art pieces that were inspired by their home country. The artwork will be showcased in six highly visible locations around the ship.

The featured artists include:

Giovanni Abath from Curaçao

As passengers enter the Royal Promenade on deck six, they’ll see a large-scale mural and stainless-steel sculpture created by Abath. A multi-disciplinary artist, Abath uses diverse materials and techniques — such as Styrofoam and metal — to create sculptures and installations that bridge industrial material with cultural symbolism and personal narrative. His work focuses on bringing the culture, landscapes, and community of the Caribbean to life.

Vanessa Dalla Costa from Trinidad and Tobago

As a ceramic artist, Costa will craft a mosaic sculpture to be featured in the Suite Sundeck, an elevated outdoor space for passengers staying in a suite on board. Her artistic style explores the intersection of texture, light, and the transformation of raw earth — such as clay — to create stained glass-like art. Each piece of clay is hand-cut and hand-painted, embodying the atmosphere of the space it’s in.

Porschia Denning from the U.S. Virgin Islands

Denning is a multidisciplinary artist, creating vibrant paintings and sculptures using acrylic oil, stone, copper, and beyond. With art inspired by the energy of nature and rhythm of island life, she invites spectators to slow down, unplug, and reconnect. Her custom mural will be featured in the Suite Sundeck Lobby.

Rafeal Vega Feliciano from Puerto Rico

Feliciano is a contemporary visual artist who will draw on his experience in expressionist portraiture and ancestral symbolism to create a thought-evoking mural in the boarding area on deck two, where guests disembark and return to the ship for port visits and excursions. His artwork reflects the history of pre-colonial Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

Rodrigo Macias Maldonado from Mexico

As a visual artist, Maldonado will design a large-scale mural at the heart of the ship: the Royal Promenade. His artwork explores the relationship between geometry, the built environment, and human resilience, inspiring him to curate an immersive experience as passengers explore the space.

Alexander Lopez Ryliouk from Costa Rica

Ryliouk’s large-scale mural will be featured in Legend of the Seas’ embarkation area for a show-stopping first impression as passengers step onto the ship. Through the use of vibrant paint, the piece will set the tone for the entire voyage.
