Trafalgar Waives Solo Supplements on 2026 Rhine and Danube River Cruises

Trafalgar has launched a new round of river cruise deals that put solo travelers at the front of the offer. The guided vacation company’s Spotlight Savings promotion, announced April 28, fully waives the single supplement on most 2026 Rhine and Danube sailings, with reduced supplements on 2026 Christmas Markets departures and 2027 itineraries.

Trafalgar Waives Solo Supplements on 2026 Rhine and Danube River Cruises

The promotion runs while inventory lasts and applies to a range of European river cruise departures across both years.

What Solo Travelers Get

The single supplement, the extra fee solo travelers typically pay to occupy a double-occupancy cabin alone, can effectively double the cost of a river cruise. Trafalgar is removing that fee entirely on most of its core 2026 Rhine and Danube sailings, a meaningful shift in a category where solo pricing has long been a barrier.

For solos eyeing the popular Christmas Markets season, the supplement is reduced rather than waived. The same reduced-supplement structure applies to 2027 sailings.

Suite Bookings Get a €1,000 Credit

Beyond the solo offer, Spotlight Savings includes a €1,000 per cabin shipboard credit on Suite Stateroom bookings for eligible 2026 departures. The credit can be applied toward optional shore experiences, spa treatments, specialty dining, beverages, and other onboard purchases.

Travelers booking by May 28 can stack Spotlight Savings with Trafalgar’s Best of Summer Sale on select departures, with some sailings priced up to 50 percent off and including a $300 flight credit per couple.

The Itineraries

The deals apply across Trafalgar’s core 2026 European river cruise lineup. The 8-day Best of the Danube itinerary sails Budapest to Passau with stops in Vienna and Bratislava, plus a Be My Guest dinner at Austria’s Weingut Nikolaihof winery. The 10-day Best of the Rhine and Amsterdam runs Basel to Amsterdam, taking in Strasbourg’s Old Town, the UNESCO-listed Cologne Cathedral, and a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER experience at Weinessiggut Doktorenhof, a traditional vinegar producer.

The seasonal Rhine Christmas Markets and Danube Christmas Markets sailings are also covered.

Why It Matters

Solo travel demand has been climbing across the cruise category, but river lines have been slower than ocean operators to remove pricing penalties for single occupancy. Trafalgar’s decision to waive supplements outright on most 2026 Rhine and Danube sailings puts pressure on competitors and signals where the segment is heading.

“River cruising continues to see strong demand, and we want to make sure advisors have effective ways to turn that interest into bookings,” said Whitney Ramirez, SVP Sales, TTC Tour Brands. “Spotlight Savings gives advisors a flexible way to guide clients toward the right departure while reinforcing the strong value Trafalgar river cruises deliver.”

For travelers, the practical takeaway is simple. Anyone who has been priced out of a river cruise by single supplements has a narrower window to book one without paying the penalty, particularly on summer 2026 departures.
