Holland America’s Rotterdam Returns from Dry Dock with New Music Venues & Upgrades

Holland America Line’s Rotterdam has returned to service after a two-week dry dock in the Netherlands. The update brings new live music venues, expanded suite capacity, and refreshed public spaces ahead of the summer Northern Europe season.

Live music was a key focus of the dry dock. Billboard Onboard and Rolling Stone Lounge now offer more seating. A redesigned central lounge makes it easier for passengers to move between performances. Additionally, the forward-facing Crow’s Nest now features a live music stage with panoramic views. And a new outdoor stage at the aft Sea View Pool adds more performances throughout the day.

The Pinnacle Class ship welcomed passengers back on April 26 for a seven-day Northern Europe cruise.

Rotterdam Extends a Pattern of Recent Dry Docks

Similar updates have appeared across other Holland America ships in recent dry docks. Ships like Koningsdam, Zuiderdam, and Westerdam have introduced new or updated performance spaces, often centered around existing venues or smaller stages.

Stateroom updates were another priority. Holland America upgraded 22 Vista Suites with new sofa beds. Each suite can now accommodate up to four passengers. Similar changes have been made on other ships, where new or expanded staterooms increase capacity and offer more options for group travel.

The onboard Effy Jewelry boutique was also redesigned with updated lighting, flooring, and display fixtures, bringing it in line with similar spaces across the fleet.

Elsewhere on board, the Greenhouse Spa & Salon was refreshed, and the casino was also updated with new seating, finishes, and additional slot machines.

While the updates on Rotterdam are noticeable, they focus on refinement rather than major change. Some of Holland America’s older ships are set for larger transformations under the company’s upcoming multiyear “Evolution” program.

Rotterdam entered service in 2021 and remains one of the line’s newer ships.
