MSC Cruises Launches Onboard Conservation Program For Families
To celebrate World Oceans Day today, MSC Foundation and MSC Cruises have announced the launch of ‘Oceans Day powered by MSC Foundation.’ This new onboard program will help kids and their families better understand, celebrate, and care for the ocean through experiences that combine learning and creativity.
Developed by MSC Foundation in partnership with MSC’s Entertainment team, the program is slowly rolling out aboard ships across the fleet. Drawing on years of collaboration with conservation and education partners, the program combines lessons from restoration work at Ocean Cay with the expertise of organizations including Mission Blue and Marevivo.

“Oceans Day powered by MSC Foundation reflects our belief that education is fundamental to long-term ocean conservation,” said Daniela Picco, Executive Director of MSC Foundation. “We believe that if you know the sea, you protect it — everything starts from there. By helping children and families build a deeper connection with the ocean, we hope to foster curiosity, responsibility and a lifelong commitment to caring for the marine world.”
The program, which has been designed for kids and teens ages three to 17, is built around three pillars: celebrating the ocean, placing kids and families at the center, and fostering ocean literacy.
Activities and features of the program include:
- An original song called “Everybody Loves the Sea,” which was developed in partnership with a children’s choir
- Games and quizzes
- Creative workshops and drawing activities
- Conservation challenges
- The “My Wish for the Ocean” initiative, which encourages kids to make personal pledges to protect the ocean — they also receive an Ocean Ambassador Passport filled with practical actions they can continue at home
- A celebratory parade featuring music and kids’ participation

‘Oceans Day powered by MSC Foundation’ will be progressively rolled out across the MSC Cruises fleet. On ships featuring an MSC Foundation Centre, Foundation representatives will also take part in the program’s activities.
Over time, the program is expected to evolve, with new experiences continuing to be introduced to keep it relevant, engaging, and impactful for future generations.
The MSC Foundation was established in 2018, with a mission to use MSC’s global reach and knowledge of the sea to take action that contributes to protecting and nurturing the ocean and the marine life that calls it home. The Foundation supports initiatives in environmental conservation, community support, education, and emergency relief. For more information, visit mscfoundation.org.
