Carnival Cruise Line Opens Bookings For New Texas-Based Mega Ship

Bookings are now open for Carnival’s new upcoming ship, Carnival Tropicale. Starting April 15, 2028, the vessel will begin a series of four, five, six, and eight-night cruises from Galveston, Texas to the western Caribbean and Bahamas. Honoring her connection to the Lone Star State, the Star of Texas will be displayed on the ship’s bow.

“Today marks an exciting day for Carnival Tropicale as guests can now begin planning their vacations aboard this incredible new ship,” said Ben Clement, EVP of maritime and new builds at Carnival Cruise Line. “From innovative attractions and dining to unforgettable destinations throughout the Caribbean, The Bahamas and Mexico, Carnival Tropicale will bring an exciting new vacation option to Texas when she debuts in 2028.”

As reservations opened, Carnival Cruise Line and shipbuilder Meyer Werft hosted a western-themed celebration honoring the ship’s future home and Carnival’s longstanding connection to Texas. Leaders from both companies donned custom cowboy hard hats and western attire, celebrating with Texas-inspired décor and barbecue.

Carnival Tropicale is Carnival’s fifth and final Excel-class ship. A major highlight of the vessel will be Sunsation Point, a multi-deck family fun zone anchored by Carnival WaterWorks Ultra featuring six waterslides, a Route 66-inspired mini golf course, and the Treehouse Adventure Trail. Sunsation Point will be buzzing well into the evening, with extended waterpark hours and special evening activities.

The fun will continue at the table, where Carnival Tropicale will feature new restaurants Uku Lei Lei, a Hawaiian-inspired venue; Fetaccine, blending Greek and Italian flavors; and Emeril’s Coastal Seafood, showcasing seafood dishes inspired by America’s coastlines.

Carnival Tropicale will also introduce new entertainment experiences and spaces inspired by the golden age of show business. More details are set to be revealed in the months to come.
