Nevis Among Emerald & PerryGolf’s New Caribbean Golf Voyages

Emerald Cruises and PerryGolf are teaming up for two new Caribbean golf voyages aboard Emerald Sakara.

The seven-night sailings depart on Dec. 4, 2027, and Feb. 12, 2028. The program includes three rounds at Aurora Anguilla, Four Seasons Resort Nevis, and Royal Westmoreland in Barbados.

PerryGolf will manage the golf side of the trip. That includes tee times, transfers, club handling, pairings and on-site support. Emerald will handle the cruise experience aboard Sakara.

The voyage begins in Philipsburg, St. Maarten, and concludes in Bridgetown, Barbados.

From the Hillside to the Sea

For many golfers, the Nevis round may be one of the highlights.

Four Seasons Resort Nevis is home to an 18-hole, par-71 Robert Trent Jones II course. The layout winds through tropical vegetation below Nevis Peak. It also opens up elevated views toward St. Kitts and the Caribbean Sea.

There is history on the course as well. Players pass the ruins of an old sugar mill near the second hole.

Then there are the green vervet monkeys.

The monkeys are part of the landscape around the resort and golf course. Four Seasons specifically tells golfers to keep an eye out for them as they play around the fairways and surrounding vegetation.

It makes for a distinctly Nevisian golf experience, with curious monkeys sometimes providing color commentary over strokes.

Beyond the Fairways

PerryGolf makes a point of welcoming non-golfing companions on its cruises. While golfers are on the course, companions can explore independently or choose from available Emerald shore options.

Charlestown is the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton, who was born on Nevis in 1757. Travelers can learn more about his early years at the Museum of Nevis History. Guided experiences also explore places and stories connected to Hamilton’s childhood on the island.

Food is another good way to get a feel for Nevis.

On Pinney’s Beach, Sunshine’s Beach Bar & Grill offers the classic laid-back island experience. Caribbean dishes and seafood share the menu with the bar’s well-known Killer Bee rum punch. (Only have one! You’ve been warned.)

Yachtsman Grill offers a more polished beachfront setting, with seafood, grilled dishes and wood-fired pizza.

Travelers looking for something more locally focused can consider a village food experience in Barnes Ghaut. Nevis Sun Tours takes small groups into the community to meet residents and sample food prepared on family properties. Depending on the season, that can include breadfruit, plantain, sweet potato, local fruit and homemade drinks.

Passengers who prefer a slower day can spend time exploring Charlestown or head toward the coast. Pinney’s Beach is one of the island’s best-known stretches of sand. Nevis also has botanical gardens, historic estates and natural hot springs.

The course may be the draw for golfers, but there are plenty of reasons for their companions to go ashore too.

Clubs, Carts and Logistics Covered

PerryGolf includes starting times, shared golf carts and transfers to each course. It also handles passengers’ clubs throughout the voyage. Practice facilities and range balls are included where available. Golfers receive a light lunch at each course as well.

A PerryGolf program manager will sail with the group. One round will also feature a casual tournament with awards.

The club-handling service may be one of the more practical benefits. PerryGolf says equipment is moved to the course in advance and prepared for players when they arrive. The company coordinates its return after the round.

Swinging From Anguilla to Barbados

The golf program opens in Anguilla at Aurora Anguilla on Rendezvous Bay.

The Greg Norman-designed course sits between the bay and the Anguilla Channel. PerryGolf highlights its seaside setting, breezes and closing stretch near the water.

The cruise ends with play at Royal Westmoreland, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The course occupies former plantation land on Barbados’ west coast. PerryGolf describes rolling fairways, elevated approaches and broad sea views.

After the round, PerryGolf plans an awards and cocktail reception aboard Sakara.

The Emerald partnership also expands PerryGolf’s cruise portfolio. We previously reported on the company’s new golf cruises with Silversea, which also begin in 2027.
