MSC Cruises’ Ship MSC Poesia to Return to Alaska in 2028

MSC Cruises will be headed back to Alaska in summer 2028! The line announced today that it has opened bookings for 2028 in Alaska, which will be its third season in the region.

The season will begin on April 24, 2028. MSC Poesia, which is the same ship sailing in Alaska currently, will return, operating weekly seven-night voyages from Seattle through September 18, 2028.

“Alaska has quickly become one of our most popular destinations, and opening sales for a third season reflects the strong demand we’ve seen since launching there this year,” said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises. “Expanding our program for the 2028 summer season gives guests even more opportunities to explore this extraordinary region and plan their holiday in advance.”

Voyages will visit Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point, Juneau, and Victoria, with scenic cruising through the glacier-carved Tracy Arm Fjord.

MSC Poesia recently completed a major renovation, which included the addition of the luxury MSC Yacht Club ship-within-a-ship complex. The space includes 69 suites, 24-hour butler and concierge service, and access to exclusive spaces including a private restaurant, lounge, sundeck with hot tubs, and a grill restaurant and bar. The renovations also included the addition of Butcher’s Cut steakhouse and Kaito Sushi Bar, as well as enhanced fitness center and spa facilities.

MSC Poesia is currently operating MSC Cruises’ first-ever season in Alaska. The vessel’s cruise director, Matías Chimicz, has shared that some highlights of his experience in Alaska on board include witnessing glaciers up close; spotting wildlife including whales, bald eagles, bears, and harbor seals; and enjoying the scenery throughout the Inside Passage, especially with extended daylight hours.

The ship will return to Alaska next year, again operating seven-night voyages from Seattle from April 26 to September 27. We’re curious to see if MSC Cruises adds a second ship to its Alaska schedule in the near future!
