Three Ships, Three Caribbeans

The promotion is available on select January through March 2028 sailings aboard all three ships in the Star Clippers fleet.

Royal Clipper spends the season sailing from Bridgetown, Barbados, alternating between Grenadine Islands and Windward Islands itineraries. The ship calls at destinations including Bequia, the Tobago Cays, Martinique, St. Lucia and Dominica. Shore excursions range from snorkeling and sailing to exploring colorful island towns and beaches.

Based in Philipsburg, St. Maarten, Star Flyer operates Leeward Islands and Treasure Islands cruises. The ship visits destinations including St. Barts, Antigua, Guadeloupe, Nevis and Dominica. One featured sailing also gives passengers the chance to see Royal Clipper sailing alongside Star Flyer south of Îles des Saintes, an experience the cruise line describes as a rare highlight.

Meanwhile, Star Clipper sails Costa Rica and Panama itineraries from Puerto Caldera. The voyages include opportunities to explore tropical rainforests, spot wildlife, kayak through mangroves and experience the region’s rich marine life.

Star Clippers says its ships can visit smaller ports and secluded anchorages that are generally beyond the reach of larger cruise ships.

The Art of Sailing

Unlike most cruise lines, Star Clippers operates a fleet of just three purpose-built tall ships. Together, they blend the traditions of classic sailing with the comforts of modern cruising.

The flagship, Royal Clipper, entered service in 2000. It accommodates 227 passengers and 106 crew. Measuring 440 feet long, the ship features five masts, 42 sails and approximately 54,000 square feet of sail area. It also holds the Guinness World Record as the world’s largest full-rigged sailing ship. Onboard amenities include three pools, a marina platform for watersports and the Captain Nemo Underwater Spa and Lounge.

The fleet also includes the identical sister ships, Star Clipper and Star Flyer. Delivered in 1992 and 1991, respectively, each accommodates 166 passengers and 74 crew. The ships measure 379 feet long and feature expansive teak decks, plunge pools, an outdoor Tropical Bar, piano lounges and open-seating dining.

According to the company, all three ships sail under wind power whenever conditions allow, using engine power only when needed to maintain schedules. Passengers can also help the crew raise the sails or, weather permitting, climb to the crow’s nest using a safety harness.
