Holland America Celebrates America’s 250th with a Historic Stars & Stripes Cruise
If you’re looking for a uniquely patriotic way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in 2026, Holland America Line has something special in store. The cruise line just announced a one-of-a-kind itinerary that combines Revolutionary War-era history with modern cruising comfort, and it’s setting sail right on July 4.

The seven-day “America’s 250th Celebration: Stars & Stripes Voyage” aboard Zuiderdam departs roundtrip from Boston, the cradle of the American Revolution. Think cobblestone streets, the Freedom Trail, and fireworks lighting up Boston Harbor, because that’s exactly how this cruise begins.
From there, the itinerary offers a fascinating mix of ports. After a stop in Saint John, New Brunswick, guests will head south for a rare call at Norfolk, Virginia, gateway to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. Shore excursions will dive into the nation’s roots with visits to the Governor’s Palace, the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, and more.
But perhaps the crown jewel of this itinerary is the overnight stay in New York City. Zuiderdam will arrive just in time to catch the tail end of the “Sail 4th 250” tall ships parade—a weeklong flotilla featuring the largest gathering of tall ships and naval vessels in the world. As Zuiderdam sails past Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty on July 8, guests might even spot the tall ships on their farewell journey to Boston.

With extended time in the Big Apple, guests can take in iconic landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Manhattan’s skyline by land and sea. For history buffs and sightseers alike, it’s a front-row seat to America’s living history.
“America’s 250th anniversary is a singular milestone, and we’re excited to mark this historic occasion with a cruise that brings our guests closer to the places where our nation was born,” said Holland America Line President Beth Bodensteiner.
Fares for the Stars & Stripes Voyage start at $1,459 per person (double occupancy), including taxes and port fees. Given the timing and the historical focus, this one is sure to be a bucket-list cruise for Americana enthusiasts.
Whether you’re a seasoned cruiser or just looking for a meaningful way to celebrate this landmark moment in U.S. history, Holland America’s got your patriotic plans covered, fireworks and all!
